About

Dev Ops Engineer working towards a Single Digit Handicap

About Me

I was born just outside of Cleveland, raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and lived in Denver for the past 10 years. I recently have become a digital nomad. Now I live wherever I park my car. I’ve got 2 nephews, and love to golf.

My Career

I am a digital nomad that is working on golfing all 50 states. I started as a DotNet developer back when dotnet only ran on Windows. As the dotnet stack grew across platforms, as did my interest in other platforms. I have been working in the DevOps space for the last 5 years. Only the past 2 years was it exclusively Terraform, Jenkins, and AWS.

My Game

I have been working on my golf game for the past 10 years. I have been golfing for 20 years. I have been to 40 states and golfed in 30 of them. I am working on golfing all 50 states. I have a goal of getting my handicap to single digits. I am currently a 12.5. I have been as low as 11.5. I have been as high as 14.5. I am currently working on my short game. I am also working on my mental game.

When I was in Chicago, I decided to fly instead of drive, as it would’ve been a 14 hour drive. While in Chicago for work I decided I was going to take the weekend and drive up to Wisconsin, so I rented a car. Unfortunately I didn’t have a physical license, just my Colorado Gov app (which has my digital license, and my passport). Since I didn’t have a physical license, I couldn’t use any of the outdated car rental places, (Alamo, Enterprise, etc…) however I was able to use Turo. Which is like Airbnb for cars. I had never driven an electric car more than the few minutes I spent in my brother-in-laws Tesla in Fort Wayne. After spending a weekend in a Tesla, it was all I could I think about when flying back.

I started the journey June of 2023. Initially I was just going to visit family in Florida and Ohio. I put my apartment into a storage unit, and packed what I thought I would need to live into my car. As I was driving down to Florida, I decided to golf at a course on the way in MO. Then after I left the first Airbnb, I decided to golf again in Georgia. Then while I was golfing I thought to myself, “why not golf in every state?”. Then the initial 1-2 month trip to visit family, morphed into a cross country journey. Check out the Interactive Map
